3 dead after semi attempts U-turn on turnpike

Imagine needing a translater in court but somehow getting a CDL, getting a driving job, bring released from weigh stations during inspection etc all without speaking English.

Soo many people along the way knew he couldn't speak.

What about the agriculture inspection station in Florida where all the trucks get pulled in?
Surely they must have seen he had trouble speaking when asked what are you hauling.

Surely the employer knew he couldn't speak.

Surely shippers must have noticed too.

Watch some wild lawyer go after the shipper for loading a driver who couldn't speak English.
It's bound to happen at some point.
Good ol this accident wouldn't have happened if you didn't provide this illegal driver the load.

How about passing a law that any time a driver gets put out of service for a driver that can't speak English that Carrier immediately get their operating Authority revoked.
These carriers KNOW in the hiring process and just normal day to to day business if their drivers can speak English or not.
It's time to drop the hammer on all of this.

Seems like it would be simple to put intrastate only on the license.
I've run MVR's that had it on the report.

 

There needs to be a lot looked into and a lot of folks need to be held accountable for this…this is completely inexcusable in every way..

 

I’m betting it would be quite simple to transfer to another state and self certify as interstate.

Regardless, the largest state in the lower 48 hands them out to people who don’t speak English and they won’t enforce ELP for interstate drivers.
I’ve posted this fact many times only for it to be ignored. Had I changed the state name to California 95% of the forum would be hyperventilating.

If the issue is actually about safety and not politics then Texas needs to be dealt with before anything else.

 

Shut off their federal highway funding until they comply..simple.

 

I personally don’t like ELP requirements for CDL drivers. I want it required for anyone who travels our roads. I get misunderstood a lot so I just wanted to be clear about my stance.

I also like dealing with facts even if I don’t like them. I’m honest to a fault like most introverts and don’t deal well with nonsense. If I post something that isn’t true and accurate then that’s my ignorance and I’ll gladly own it.

Back to Texas, if we allow them to give CDLs under the guise of intrastate only then we must accept it for the other lower 47.

If we allow it then the whole interstate ELP requirement becomes a moot issue.

 

Charlie Kirk just had Sean Duffy on his show this morning and they were saying some really good things about the Transportation industry and what they're gonna be doing. Getting rid of non-English speaking drivers who big companies bring into drive down wages taking America's jobs. Cracking down on the CDL scam and the 400,000 CDL's that were given out the last few years.

 

I do believe he is dead serious..it will take some time due to the level of the mess in this business from this crap but i think good things are coming because this crap has to cease…
