We've been working on it for quite a while, no trade in. Now i just put up a LOC and are leasing the units.

Thanks for the idea. I’m pretty pissed off to have like 12 worthless units that I’ve paid thousands for. Can’t imagine how you feel about it. Not to mention their overpriced stupid cords.

I'm using eRoad and their 4G upgrade is done via a special program, and runs about 50% off the regular price. Additionally, the new ones are made by the same mfr as the old ones, so the hardware swap doesn't require buying all the harnesses and changing those out too.

If I'm being honest, 4 years on the dash in the sun for a modern electronic device is record-setting longevity, even considering any tech obsolescence. I didn't want to have to buy new ones, but it's not the worst thing I have to deal with.

Most problem i've had is the drivers. If you take a screwdriver and hammer it on the reset button it must work better.

eRoad's don't have any buttons. The touch screens do get a little less sensitive with age and heat, so I could see a company driver using a screwdriver on the screen for what that's worth. That said, I've only needed to reset one unit one time in 4 years to force a software update, and that's done by pulling the fuses in the power leads. I'm back to just trustworthy immediate family driving my trucks, so the company driver tricks aren't in the cards these days, thank God.
