Did you shut it off and then restart it and try again?
-
disconnect the battery, wait a min, then reconnect and try again. This kind of fault can happen if the truck is shut down in gear, or was torqued locked. Removing power should cause the transmission to go thru a full cycle and clear itself. It is possible that a sensor has failed.
good luckvolvodriver01 Thanks this. -
Is it the service light or the arrows flashing if arrows are flashing you need to adjust the clutch brake
-
The arrows also tell which way to move pedal for it to go into gear. The clutch has to be adjust just rightfor this trans to go into gear. There is a way to get codes out of trans. by turning key on and off twice for active faults and four times for inactive I beleave this is right but check its been awhile since ive worked on eaton auto shift.

I called a sevice guy out and soon as he plugged it in he said that's what it is the sencer is not reading the shaft he said he thinks the clutch needs to be changed but it's back going $128.00 call out wasn't that bad!!

Go ahead and replace x-Y module doohickey. I read its a common thing that fails at the worse possible time.

These autoshifts are junk

Iv had a lot to do with the 18 speed ones gen 2 and gen 3 It's usually the truck wiring that gives the trouble.occasional x y controller failure, or they get torque locked. The worst part is they all come with a solo clutch which seize up and don't adjust. The service manual is available online for them and-very handy for a driver with a few clues. Tells you the procedure to check for active, logged , and clear faults with the ignition key.

if the sensor is not reading, that has nothing to do with the clutch needing replaced, that's the sensor. Mine torque locked one morning last week, Shut the truck off, let it sit two or three minutes, then back on, took about 3 times doing this and it started. Have had it happen in the past, XY failures are common if you abuse the truck or once you get above 300K miles (lifespan varies from 300K to 600K for a set of XY motors), clutch failure is the last thing, typically your clutch brake will fail first, but many times to replace it the whole thing has to come out.
