I was parked at the Flying J in Boise, ID... sitting next to a CR England truck.

    First out comes one guy...

    Then out comes another guy...

    Then out comes a woman...

    Then out comes two dogs!

I was shaking my head by that time. All I could think of was "sure hope they all get along."

Covenant trains 3 people in truck. They are supposed to get a hotel for layovers ect.. but they always find a way to get out of it. You end up sleeping 2 in bottom bunk and 1 in top bunk. Could spend days in truck stops like this. We have even been forced to sleep in cab like this in areas that do not have bathrooms. Also the training is not 35 days it is 35 segments, which means you have to at least drive 30 times of 4 hours or more with a 10 hour sleeper break and 5 times of 8 or more hours. You cannot complete in less than 35 days. It takes some people 3 or more months to complete this when there are 3 in truck and company is not sending you loads and unmotivated trainers. I think they are trying to see how much you can take before you break...

My company just hired on a trainer from Covenant and I hitched a ride with him the other day to run down to Miami to pick up a truck. He was telling me all about the three person training thing. He even trained women trainees, two at a time! He said he actually liked training this way because the truck was able to keep moving like a real team truck and he was still able to train and get rest.

Guess it worked out fairly well for him.

When my wife and I very first signed on with Central since she was inexperienced they made her go with a trainer and I rode along with them to learn all the paper work and procedures. Three people is pushing it in a truck for any amount of time. Wouldn't be something I would want to do on a regular basis but then again each is to own...
