Good on you, my friend.
I'm in my training driving now, (super cool trainer) and will be posting videos about my adventure so far once I start my solo driving in a few weeks.
I have been very pleased with how much my preparation has been so useful in my job selection.

Outstanding. Will be watching for the vids.
I have recruiters calling me every other day because I followed these steps. I have options. Keep us updated and maybe I will see you on the road one day! -
Thanks for laying out the steps to get going on the right path. In times like these, we need all the advantages we can get to land a decent paying job.
I'd been looking to get into this line of work for near a decade, but couldn't keep my head above water enough to front the initial cost. I had no idea that I might be able to get in for mostly free through the WIA program. I've got an appointment with the local 'career center' to get that ball rolling, while studying for the CDL exams. I wonder if having the permit and DOT medical test already done would help my case in regards to the WIA grant.AnotherChapter Thanks this. -

All of those are great tips! When I started I came in with my permit ready to go. The physical was provided by the trucking school and they did their own drug test too. I did have to do a company drug test when I hired on but not another physical.
As for your figures. You seem to have done your research so don't get trapped making less than a grand a week on 70 hours. If you fund your own schooling by down payment or government assistance you are a free agent and can start anywhere otr for over .35 a mile. If you sign into a program funded by a trucking company you will be stuck in contract at , on average, .22 a mile.
You went the extra mile, now finish strong with a solid starter company. There's a lot of them available to view on threads around here.AnotherChapter Thanks this. -

I'm a instructor for road master in PA. And what Another Chapter said are great tips. I would like to add, bring your ss card, diploma or ged, or whatever you have that shows you are a legal citizen. We have had students training delayed for weeks because they didn't have any of these things with them. also your success all depends on your attitude. Were hear to teach you. It is up to you to apply yourself and learn.

Maybe I missed it in this thread but did you @AnotherChapter pay for your own CDL schooling or did you get it via the company sponsored training.
