Wish I could thank this post 10x. You sir are correct ,some of the better companies are like that. Been at this 12 years now with just two companies, it does pay to stick it out sometimes, better routes, seniority, etc. Best of luck to in your decision.

I would wait until you've been employed at minimum 6 months, but preferably a year. Then take your experience elsewhere for better pay and work conditions. You don't want to establish a resume of bouncing from job to job. Six months to a year with a mega is about the right time to move on. Nobody blames anyone for leaving a mega and it won't be held against you...unless it's your 8th mega in 7 months!

This period of time sucks, it will feel like dog years. However, it's a common malody with this industry. The bad news: consider this your rookie, lowman on the pole, dues paying time. The good news: this does end and this career gets better from there. Grin and bear it. You'll make it!!

Bulk is very strong work. Customers cry for product like hungry children hansel and gretal munching on the overbuilt ginger house.

If you are in bulk and actually sitting on your bum not making a mile there IS a problem. With me, Ive been bulk maybe 4 years total in my life and all of them were bosses saying youre moving yet? Yer running late. Where you at? etc etc etc. If my truck broke, they find another one asap. Like really ASAP. And I HAVE broke trucks in Bulk. The last one pretty much wanted to dump me onto the interstate below at 70+ That was fixed in two weeks and they handed it back to to me. I was such a dumb ### taking it back.

    Anyway....

You need to be very careful here. If they are not doing Bulk correct and you are sitting around that's a problem. I don't know yet if you are among idiots playing at bulk trucking company or you are having a bad patch. I cannot tell. (No OFFENSE please... we all have rough patches... now and then. Feast and famine.)

No offense taken. This is a major readjustment for me from doing flatbed for 3 years,, and ironically I never had this problem when I was with this same company van wise back in 2013-2014.

They do that at the company I work for. The first week or so I put up with it because I figured they were just trying to keep me close in case I ####ed something up or clogged something up bad enough that I wouldn’t know how to clear it out. Cheaper than having me 500 miles away needing a tow bill or service. But after the first week, I told them the same thing about doing this to make money and that I’m not here to participate in the good ole boys network.

Hell, before they would let me apply they had me come in for a face to face meeting to feel me out. They being two of the 3 planners and the terminal manager. I told them I was there to get bulk experience, because I want to eventually be able to say that I have done and can do anything that can be done in a truck. Have every endorsement. The planner was like so you’re just here to get pneumatic training and then leave...

I’m like no buddy, I’m here to make money and your job is to make sure I do. If you do your job, I won’t ever leave.

I’m leaving for a new company this coming weekend. Guess who didn’t do their job

News flash...... their job is NOT to make sure you make money. Their job, as well as your job, is for the company to make money. If everybody does their respective job well, everybody should make money.

Well, found out dispatch had the number I was going to call to get loaded. They didn't relay it to me, even aftere calling and messaging about the weird loading time. I could've been almost to delivery by now...

I was reading this thread and thinking back to when I had a major breakdown. In the next 72 hours I went through 4 tractors before I found one that would run. This is WHY I keep on with the develop a good relationship topic in regard to your fleet managers. I called mine and was promised as soon as I got back to the home terminal I would get a new tractor. 3 weeks later I did. Then that new tractor broke down on me. I spent 3 days in a hotel in Texas being paid a daily pay waiting on International to fix that truck. Hey stay in trucking long enough as a company driver and your going to see some of the worse junk possible.
