Back then the Navy had "Leading Seaman", "Leading Airman" , "Leading Fireman" and many of them carried the same power as E-4 or E-5. An E-3 could stay in 20 yrs. and many did. One of my favorite was an Boatswains Mate E-3 (BMSN) and doing 20 yrs. Already had 12 yrs. in. He bought a used car and really proud of it; and showed it to me, just beaming. A couple weeks later the paint started peeling off and then he saw it was an old Yellow Cab. He was used to driving those narrow dirt roads in his home state of Louisana, so he took off in the car and put it into a slide and wrapped it around a tree, then called the finance company to come get the car. He didn't even get a scratch on himself. Real colorful, likable guy and was a machine gunner in Vietnam on river boats.

He once taught an old dog new tricks.

His business card simply says "I'll call you".

His signature won a Pulitzer Prize.

Sharks have a week dedicated to him.

He is allowed to talk about Fight Club.

E-3 at 20 years what!!! Are you serious?

The only place where there is a Lead Seaman in the Navy, is the deck seaman, aka undesignated seaman, that came in with no job. They maintained the ship, and it was the funniest thing when I would go up to the hanger bay and watch the Lead Seaman, and E-3 tell other E-3's what to do.

As for me, I joined as an E-1, then when I was an E-3 that knew my job almost as well as my LPO, and E-6, I was made Assistant LPO over all the E-4's and E-5's in the office. I use to give them there assignments for the day. Took about 1.5 years to become the ALPO though.

When did I realize I picked the wrong job? When I took my test for E-4, placed in the 99.9 percentile on my exam (basically scoring the highest on the test throughout the entire Navy), and still didn't make rank. This happened twice. My rate was one of those "somenone has to die to make room for advancement" rates. Yet, all my friends in IT, actually, every single IT in the entire Navy, made automatic E-4 just for taking the test, regardless of what they scored on the test. Now that's some BS!

BTW, thanks for suggesting Schneider/Choice, so far they are top on my list as of now.

    So.......
    You're a navy seal...
The navy seals I know of are still in shape.
Navy seals have the highest discipline. Even those out of service.
I come from a navy family, my father fought in the Korean War.
Who are you trying to kid bro?

When I joined, yes, and E-3 was allowed to do 20 yrs.
You posted about Hong Kong; been there in the Navy and my favorite bar was the White Horse Bar. I don't think it exists anymore.

Really? No pics in uniform? I read your posts. You said you were a dropout at 16, but you had high SAT scores, why and when did you take the SAT? Nobody doubts the existance of sleep ops...they just doubt you were one. Nobody ever took a picture of you in formal dress? I'm not a military person, but pretty sure the uniform has different indicators as to your rank.

They don't exist because he wasn't in the military. Let's see his BT graduation pic. I'm sure that's long gone, stepmoms basement is only so big.
