I find it amazing people don't believe me, I always ran with 2 students on my truck, but most people will never train two people at one time. Me personally, I loved training two people, that way they could see the other person making mistakes just like them. It taught them a lot. Plus, me always being available as a third driver, always guranteed my truck could move 24/7, do load swaps, etc. I'm 100% sure I was at the top of my DM's list for the most versatile driver. Like people have figured out, there is a MAX amount of miles and hours two people can run each week. Three people on a truck, while as crazy as it seems, is a truck that never has to stop rolling. I talked to hundreds of other trainers and 99% of them only did 1 student at a time.

Mind you now, as a trainer, I always asked my students what they liked and didn't like before getting off my truck. Feedback was probably the most important thing I ever got. They also got to leave feedback on me with CRE once they got off my truck. And yes, I got many calls from CRE training department asking how I always got rated as high as a trainer could get. Well, I did everything first, trained them to know everything that they would need to know, paid for there meals, and gave them a $500 bonus at the end of training. I made things easy for them.

I also told them, when I am out on the road, I work. I WORK. I had a family back home, so there is no way I was gonna waste time OTR.

But just know, most people will never do three people on a truck! Thus, most people at CRE will probably never make the money I made. The crazy thing is I use to talk to OWNER Operator with CRE, and holy crap, my $120K is nothing compared to a OO that also does the three people on a truck training. Me, I was just a LEASE Operator. Had I OWNED my truck, that would have been an extra $30K in my pocket, plus OO dont pay that truck maintenance fund I had to pay, which I believe was $0.05 per mile.

I done explaining this to all the people who think I am making this up. Funny thing is if they wanted to, they could make $120K with CRE, if not more. Is it going to be easy, heck NO. Is it possible? I guess it is to the people that made it, right?

I would be happy if I could find a company where I could make about $60K, and just save up most of my money, no rent or living expenses, and just stack my money, and work on my goals.

Thus, the reason I posted this thread.

Your not getting the point. If you train 1 2 3 or 600 people on the truck you are supposed to be on duty. So you don't have hours after person 1 burns their hours. I do not know why you are not comprehending this. Someone of your intellect and being the most successful truck driver alive should understand the hos.

Why make 60k instead of 120k??? Surely CRE has had a .0025 pay raise in the last 5 years

Think about what you are saying for a minute. I'm not sure how the OOS laws have changed since I left CRE, but when I was with them, I logged everything the way I was suppose to log them. I sat in the passenger seat 98% of them time while on the truck. I never logged on duty while my trainee was driving his entire shift. But I did log 15-30 minutes ON-DUTY when he first started his shift, every time. I always stayed withing the scope of CRE's internal regulations, I also logged all the necessary hours required to showing ON-DUTY training. I also abide by the FMSCA, while logging my hours. I never had a violation, ever. I probably had DOT check my logs 12 times in the 3 years I was OTR. As long as you stay within the confines of the law, you will be fine.

I'm not sure how CRE is now, if they require the trainer to be on-duty while the student is driving the whole shift now, then yes, I don't see many people hitting $120K+, but could probably still hit $100K+.

    Dear CR England,

When you send your recruiters here, equip them with some photoshopped settlements. Also, run your fabricated road stories by the log department first. An extra recruiter or two wouldn't hurt to back up their story.

    # 1 - If you're talking to me..I'm not in attack mode, I'm sorry if you take it that way.
    # 2 - There are many many drivers who make 120k a year..I know this. What is TOTALLY unbelieveable is that you trained two people at a time in a CR England truck while running 6,000 miles a week and sometimes up to 7,000 miles a week and earned 120k in the process. It's bullschidt in every sense of the word..you know it and I know it.
    # 3 - You are have lofty goals you want to achieve but can't do it without getting advice from truckers on an internet forum?? Even with prior experience in the industry? I ain't buying it dude...nice try though.

From what I've seen from CRE drivers you need to be on the next flight to SLC. They need you back.

Because I don't want to train anymore, I want to learn how to write programs and code and move into the tech industry. Training leaves zero time for personal development. I stumbled listening to Brian Tracy and Earl Nightingale these past few months, and what an eye opener it has been for why I have been stagnant all these years.

I lost sight of my goals. It equates to a ship leaving the docking heading to its destination, with a crew to run it. It will get to its destination 99% of the time. It's the same thing in life, if a person has a goal to become successful, having goals, will force them to find the necessary steps to achieve that goal.

Now take a ship that just leaves the dock, with no destination, and no crew. It probably won't even make it out the dock, and will probably crash and sink if it does.

That's how I look at my life now. I am where I am because I lost sight of my goals. It's time to start working towards what I really want in life. That was probably the hardest decision. What do I really want in life? Once I answered that question, I now have a destination, and the steps on how to get to that destination became clear. One thing that is stuck in my head is: Time is going to pass anyways, at least do something that is going to get you towards your goal while it's passing.

    So for me its:
    1. Get stabilized
    2. Remove all the negativity in my life.
    3. Save Money
    4. Invest in myself
    5. Surround myself with people that are where I want to be in life.
    6. Do what I love, and I will never have to work another day in my life.

Being flat broke sucks, and its time for me to get my life back on track and back in order. The greatest things I have to say about my life is my two son's, and that now I have a goal, a destination to work towards. It's a huge relief knowing where I want to go in life. Even though my relationship with my fiancee/ex is over, I now now that I have to focus on myself and my children. They are all that matter to me at this point. Turning 30 a few months ago, really opened my eyes to what I was doing with my life. My goal when I was in my early 20's was to be a millionaire (financially independent) by the time I was 30. Instead I have $3.60 in my checking account. I never had goals, I just lived and enjoyed life.

It's depressing, but also listening to and reading motivational books have really put it in perspective of why my life is like is it. I have no one to blame but myself. And here I am broke, yet at the highest in spirit that I have ever been in my entire life. Now its time for me to do things, that will propel me towards my goals.

Getting a job with the right company is my first step in making this happen.

Trainee driving means the trainer is ON DUTY! If your off duty while they're driving during phase one the permit phase, then that is illegal. I'm talking about when this schmuck says he did this. Not the current England/fmcsa love story.
