Now THAT would be horrible to say the least.
Surgery itself is scary enough let alone being awake for it....

I'm glad I didn't read that before they put me under.
But I had seen it on television. I was shakin on the rollin stretcher approaching the operateing room when I passed out.
Next thing I knew it was all done.
No sense of time going by at all.
No recollection at all.
Just painful after words for a week or so.
Whole healing process will take months.
But I can drive and see 20/40.
Have depth perception back too.
Thanks to whoever built those high tech machines and the surgeon,
I have my vision back.
next is to laser spot weld the retinal tear in my good eye. A non invasive treatment that doesn't take long. Won't have to go under for that. Hopefully it won't fully detach before they can laser it. Must wait for repaired eye to heal more first. Then laser the good eye.
Thats like the fifth time in my life that I've been close to the real exit door of life.
Been through a car rollover, motorcycle accident, and sweating the bad moves that other big truck drivers have made near me at speed.
Thankful that my injuries have always been minor. But aware of what intense pain has felt like for short durations. Hopefully it won't visit me again for a long time. I know it could have been worse. I don't dwell on it but it keeps me from being unsafe. I beleive in being careful but ironicly I think there is such a thing as being overly careful to the point you are afraid to partake in life. I am not into staying totally local so maybe I'll wink at ya sometime somewhere.
