if I had 300k cash the only investment I would make in trucking is the price of overnite delivery by UPS to a bank

3 trucks, get out of the driver seat and run a 4 truck company. Small enough not to be a major PITA but big enough to make a decent living.Last edited: Feb 7, 2014

I have 19 years in Merchant Banking and 30 years in Investment Bank. First of all, move your money to Canadian Dollars. The US Dollar is going to crash. Buying capital goods such as a new truck is a good investment at this time. Fuel is going to remain relatively steady over the next few years as China has made some major mistakes in their economic development. They have kept the Yuan from floating relative to the Dollar. A Yuan is worth .16 but should be more like .50 That keeps their goods cheap but doesn't allow the Chinese workers access to foreign goods and services. China also suffers from a lack of natural resources. They have been buying up mines and oil leases all over the world. They do not relies that foreign governments will at some point naturalize their resources just as they have done to the US in the past. That leaves Canada, a nation with vast resources and a trustworthy Government. So invest in Canada. Put your US Dollars in Canada banks and hold them in Canadian Dollars.
Finally, as the US Dollar shrinks the cost of buying capital equipment such as a new truck and trailer will go up. Buy now. Diesel is the international fuel. As the world economy shrinks the gap between gasoline and diesel will narrow until once again diesel is cheaper then gasoline.
Now why should you take my advice. I joke about being a SUPER TRUCKER but I am a hell of an investment adviser.
This posting is not an offer to sell securities or is it to be considered an advertisement to do so. The market could go up or down and your investment is not guaranteed.
But them E trade babies were cute.g&cinvestments Thanks this. -

hmmmm, I guess you felt the pull of the open road and gave it all up, the being a heck of an investment advisor. -
or so you think, one truck is a PITA anything over that is a major PITA. just go ahead and hire your first driver, he will tear up more in two weeks than you will in two years.whoopNride, 281ric and exhausted379 Thank this.
