For 30k... buy some land and build a shop.
start outfitting it with tools, buy an old beat up truck and just start fixing crap. 10 years from now, sell your mechanics shop buisness for a few million, buy 2 brand new trucks and go out of buisness 3 years later

Im never 100% kidding but 30k on a trailer is pretty steep if its not in near perfect condition -

"Get more experience"
"Learn on a company's dime"
A set of tools doesn't make you a mechanic and 8 years of fixing your own car or truck in the backyard doesn't count. You make one mistake and it could cost you your business.
Experience builds efficiency and quality. A guy who spends twice the time on a job because he had zero clue what he's into won't get much return business and you can't make money discounting 50% of your time.
I would say the chance of success in opening a repair shop with anything less than 5 years experience, under the mentorship of someone who has been in the profession for a long time, is pretty slim.GYPSY65 Thanks this. -
You can beat this by pushing miles and keeping up on maintenance with a brand new truck to some degree, but then you have high overhead in the shape of big payments, and its not a sure thing eitherAModelCat Thanks this.
