I scaled the truck on friday, on my way home, had to cross maybe three or four of 'em. I knew something was wrong as soon as I saw the scale ticket. I pull a flat 48' spread axle and there are no adjustments to be made except by the loader or shipper. Imagine the surprise of seeing the following numbers: Steer 11,260 Drive 15,680 Trailer 47,080
Actual numbers were: str 11,700 drv 33,140 trl 33,300
The empty rig when fueled weighs around 29,200
I know some scales vary but this one is supposed to be guaranteed, withholding some info pending response by company involved, according to the above numbers, I would have been over on the trailer by more than seven thousand pounds, and surprisingly, the load added no weight at all to the tractor?????? drive55cat

Yes, I've seen inaccurate scales (even Cats) and I'm not too sure about a couple of 'em in Utah. I've actually gone from 79,800# to 80,180# after 300+ miles of mountain driving whilst feeding a 525 ISX. What gives?

I see that as a 1% discrepancy. Nothing to complain about. The difference in scale weights was 380 lbs. You may have burned 420 lbs of fuel. That leaves an 800 lb discrepancy on an 80,000 lb rig.
I weighed a load of Pabst on the CAT scale south of Milwaukee. After adjusting the load, I reweighed on the other CAT scale parallel to the first one. The scales are side by side, and there was a 1,000 lb discrepancy between them on gross weight. Scales need constant maintenance and adjustment. CAT will appear in court with you. State scales are not 100% accurate either. -

what do you mean by that:
are you saying that they will send a representative to where ever they busted you and say that it is their faulty equipment is the reason you were over weight or are tehy going to say that the states scales are not accurate..
