    Hey ya'll
Coolant in my oil has forced me to do an inframe. Originally my truck had a 425 7fb64705, It started burning coolant. I swapped it out with a 425 3zJ41757, which is pushing coolant into the crankcase. Cylinder 1 liner turns out.

Anyways I was just wondering if theres any opinions regarding the parts I should order for this rebuild? I had never planned on rebuilding the sluggish 3zj. Even tho its fully mechanical pre Peec. But here we are....
My plan was to order 14.5 compression pistons and nozzles for this rebuild. but I'm not sure if I can run the current camshaft with low compression pistons? I guess I could grab the cam out of the 7fb but thats extra labour...

If I did go that route would I be best swapping over my 7fb pump with or3421 nozzles? or run the C block pump? I'm assuming the C pump would need to be advanced to work with 14.5 pistons, and I don't know how a guy would advance it with out the cat timing tools?

    sorry for all the words,
any cat gurus still out there?

    Shawn2130 and 650cat425 Thank this.

    Hotrod359:

Sounds like you’re looking for extra power in the B model?

not really looking for extra power. But I’d like the C block to at least have the power of what my B block had. That’s why I’d like to use the b block pistons set.
The only thing holding me back is the fact that they run different camshafts and I really don’t want to remove the cam if I don’t have too. Maybe someone on here can tell me if the c block cam will work with 14.5 b block pistons?

Order your cylinder kits for a 5YG...they were the 460hp B. 14.5:1 compression. Small pin wide rod like the 3ZJ. Put 3425 nozzles in it with a 78mm 1.45 non waste gated borg warner turbo and hang on

Thanks for the info, I’ve never heard of 3425 nozzles? Are those for a b or c pump?

B pump. They will work great with a C pump. If you want more fuel go to an 8785 nozzle. But its gonna smoke

What do you look for as far as boost with that set up when it's put together? Most seem to avg around 42-45 when they're done from what I've read and heard. Just wanted your 2¢.

    45 is too much for a B.

    Wore out:

If I were to rebuild another B model, what are the weak points of these engines?

I have a B model out of truck in storage that needs a overhaul one day.

Is the aluminum pistons the weak point as other models have either a steel piston top and aluminum skirts or a complete steel piston?

At the moment this engine I think has a cracked head or blown gasket as it has coolant in the oil.
