    • Truck felt like had no power boost would not go past 15lbs . My primary filter was clogged with sludge from tank so cleaned tanks out replace filters all new fuel lines new.
I took filter off diesel is clean now only thing it’s filled halfway only when I take out. I drove the truck and still boost is 15lbs but now I feel power going up hill but boost don’t go up unless guate is no good. When filter was dirty it would not acelerate more then 60 once changed ran good. But now everything is clean and new air filters and fuel lines. Only thing I have not changed is the transfer pump. Would that be the issue with fuel not staying in primary filter. I have a rtlo16913a with 3.70 315789DD-C8B1-4227-A3D4-5249900F5F1F.jpeg 315789DD-C8B1-4227-A3D4-5249900F5F1F.jpeg 38F9E3A1-F911-4EDD-94BE-653880334636.jpeg A513E10A-3C0B-418B-9B0A-04FC0809A9D6.png 126DFAD8-E2E6-4540-9A69-F9805D4420BE.png 315789DD-C8B1-4227-A3D4-5249900F5F1F.jpeg 38F9E3A1-F911-4EDD-94BE-653880334636.jpeg 315789DD-C8B1-4227-A3D4-5249900F5F1F.jpeg

The hand pump has 2 check valves. One can flip and cause fuel delivery issues. Any time I have ever seen a B fuel filter not be full it was sucking air before the lift pump. Common areas are the suction fitting that is threaded into lift pump being loose, even though your sure you tightened it. O rings on water separator base if it’s that style some are pipe thread which is worse because some think that plumbers tape and diesel fuel together are a good idea. Or the pipe threads have been over tightened and cracked a base. Also stratoflex lines are bad to crack fittings when threaded together. A fuel restriction gauge teed in at pump side of water separator tells the tell. 0-2 is most likely sucking air, 3 to 6 or7 is good and much above 7 is a restriction. If it’s changed to plastic air line it’s gonna have a kink in it right about the clutch arm. Inside diameter of the suction line is key

Hi Wore out thanks for your response I noticed today that the fuel return line from the pump to the tank is leaking would that cause any issues?

Change the fuel check valve, cant build fuel pressure if its not building pressure

(If it has one, not sure, im an e model cat guy)

No it wouldn’t as the system only cares it has flow there to where it doesn’t care. The return on a mechanical CAT is more of an air bleed than anything. Look in the tank with return line running to it see if it has bubbles, a 100 or so is bout top of tolerance (a guess at amount is fine they are impossible to count) also if it ran better full but worse as it burnt fuel out of tank that’s a sure sign your sucking air or have a restriction BEFORE the transfer pump

Oxbow, rocksolid4088 and 062 Thank this.

I wound up taking the air diaphram off and it had big hole but bought a whole new valve from cat since the plunger don’t want to push in or out with pressure noticed all the o rings are bad so putting new one from cat on tomorrow do I need to adjust the screw since it’s new or just pop on and go?
