hi, i have a 3406b with 200,000 miles on it since its last rod n main , thrust, bearing replacement, was wondering what the recommended service interval is for these or what everyone does them at milage wise, my oil pressure is normal hot n cold , runs fine but just wsnt to do as preventative maintenance,ALSO!, im thinking to do this myself as i learned the old schooler gye who id like to do this job and has done in past is in some serious health conditions he needs to focas on, basically any tips and mains n rod torque specs would be appreciated , its a 7fb engine, should i replace oil pump spring for a new one or stiffer one?whike in there? THANKS!!

I don't even know if bearing rolls are even really needed anymore. The oil technology has advanced threefold since the days of the 3406B's.

Bout every 500,000 when I had one. Never really saw much wear till about 750. But they were cheap and easy. And 500 was easy to remember

The narrow journal motors were 250k. Reason being they ran more timing and liked to be ran higher in the RPM band. 7FB, 4MG, 5KJ were the narrow rods. I have heard the early 3ZJ were narrow but cannot confirm that as I never seen one. Which means nothing lol. Lots I haven’t seen. With the wider journal and less timing the interval was stepped up to 500k.

Like @AModelCat said oil is much better I don’t think it’s as critical to do them at 250k like it once was. Sometimes more damage than good is done by contamination. But if I hadn’t ever seen the inside I’d have to have a peek for satisfaction of mind

ok appreciate the information, i think ill a just to do thdm in another 50k that put me at 250k, if they look ok tgen i'll stretch out the interval next time! i think iv found torqueing to 90 and 110 foot lbs plus a flat does this sound correct?
