The 177148 will work with any setting I believe the 199119 likes some fuel to get it turning. Turbos are not cheap and I can understand wanting to make the right choice. As much as I liked the 460 turbo I ran that truck was doing a completely different job. Had @Oxbow not mentioned that I feel like I was probably fixing to give bad advice or at least lead you down the not ideal path

    Oxbow and Feedman Thank this.

I understand, there’s seems to be several different options depending on, how the engine is built, it’s job and of course, what you expect. I’m not with the truck but do you have any idea what the most probable turbo, that’s currently on it? 4MG42213

    Oxbow Thanks this.

Most likely 6960 if it’s original

I have two of the stock turbos if they are of value to anyone. They each started to leak a bit of oil and that is when I started upgrading. One of them is an OR6957, and I'm pretty sure the other is also. They were both working fine when we pulled them, except for the oil leaks.

SIS says OR6953, or 119-8517 is what it came with, at least if I'm reading it correctly.

The SIS system has a lot of options, but that is what was highlighted. I got no clue which is correct, and I wasn't trying to correct you!

I have been known to be wrong. Idk why but I think I’ve seen that 6960 number laying around my place a lot. It seems every thing runs in spurts like nothing but 7fb’s for a while then all 3ZJ’s and currently were on a 4MG kick. And now that I’ve sit and talked it out the 4MG that 6960 is off of had peec controls. I guess someone had a peec go down and replaced it with a 4MG. Had a C peec pump which has a fantastic cam but I bought it without checking. I was a little let down it was a 4MG only cuz I needed a big crank for another project. At their age no way of knowing what’s been changed through the years that motor was proof of that. I ain’t sure what the difference is in some of those older turbos honestly

Feedman, mile marker 27 and Oxbow Thank this.

Was the B’s cam shaft, ever a week point? Is a C’s cam better because of lobe design or strength?
I know I’ve heard you guy’s suggest that a C’s crank is better, due to wider journals. Was that rod or main?

Feedman and wore out Thank this.
