Looking at a w9 with this setup its a 94 been rebuilt 200k ago owner stated he got 6.2 with it just curious what u guys thought just pulling iowa flat land. I've just stuck with detroits. Never had a cat. This truck is a lil more appealing on the looks side this go around to be honest.

TO much of a wind pusher, cant see getting 6.2 mpg with it unless you didnt go over 55 mph.

They are confused motor's. Half electronics and half mechanical. That's what the "C" for. I would pass if it was I looking at it,

:biggrin_2554: I have a 3406C out of a '94 KW and there's nothing "electronic" about it unless you count the fuel shut off, starter, alternator and jakes.

    Yup Thanks this.

Besides, a true 15 spd is nothing more then a 10spd with 5 under.

    As far as rolling bricks, granted I have a N14 in a W-Star, I'm avg from 5.5 to 6.8

the 3406 series started with the a model, as cat advanced engine design and power with each model. Hence 3406 A,B,C,D,E its also a marketing gimmick everyone always wants the latest model, good strong pulling engines, but not very good fuel economy on there own, lots of after market goodies needed to get good mpgs !

My understanding is that a "C" is basically the same as a "B" except that it has more scookum crank with bigger rod and main journals.

    freightliner438 Thanks this.
