I am thinking about putting in 58's in my 575 hp C-16, anyone have any
idea how much it would bring up the torque or hp?

yes all of the 3406e proboly will have everything . 137x165 but the 1mm-7cz are 140x171 there the time changes but the 1mm 5ds are 3406e and the 7cz is a c16 :biggrin_25525: but c15( 15.2) is 137x 171 in this case work 7czcam is just for the time

If the engine is still stock it should have the 57s.

All 3406E from the 1LW,2WS, 5DS, 1MM, and all the C-15's 6NZ from 435-550 hp, C-16 7CZ use the same camshaft. Now a 375 hp 6NZ uses a different camshaft. The earlier E models used different cams for different power levels.

If you are going to upgrade a cam in an early E model, I would just install a cam out of a marine, machine or industrial application. Now these same cams could be used in a later E model or C-15/C-16 also for power gains.

The Acert's and bridge motors use other camshafts entirely.

I have a curiosity and i want to learn. you say that the 1lw and 2ws use the same shaft, but a stroke is 165 and more fast?, the 5ds has a stroke of 171. i think its imposible, its to much of a difference. with that my motor wont start or lose timen injection or the valve will break. Or is the secret in the gear in the front?

I'm not understanding your question. But I'll let you know this...........all camshafts from CAT have the same lift on the intake and exhaust valve. It can be the small horsepower C-15 375 or the C-18 1000 hp marine, the intake and exhaust vale lift is the same. Now duration is different along with lobe centerline with different power levels.

The injector lobe is different for many different applications. Higher or lower lift depending on the injectors used and the power level of the engine. The C-15 375 Hp has a very high injector lift compared to the C-16 600 Hp. But there is a different size injector in the two engines. Is this what you are saying by stroke??

Alright, I'm about to remove my cyl head but I still have to remove the injectors. It looks to me like I have to remove a head bolt to be able to get the hold down "spring" out. According to the manual the spring should come out when I remove the hold down bolt but it looks to me like I cant get the spring out without removing the head bolt right behind it. I know the hold down "spring" isn't really a spring but that's what the manual calls it, hope that makes sense.
