The spring on the injector will come out with the injector body. You don't have to remove any head bolts to remove the injector. Remove the injector hold down bolt along with the spacer and clamp. The clamp is Y shaped and fit around the injector body. Once this is done take a small pry bar to pop the injector up and remove it from the head.

He maybe thinking about crankshaft stroke, i didn't look up the bore and stroke, but that could be what he is thinking
-
Well i got #1 piston out. Could anyone tell me if this could possibly be the original part number or numbers?
7c2898
137L36 (i'm pretty sure thats the letter L)
R031
I'll take the liner around to some experts to see how it looks since it was the only one leaking. Rod bearing looks new and liner has lots of hone marking still. -
yes is original but is only 435 to 475hp
-
Well i'm a little confused. Two of the six liners have pieces of o-ring missing. It would be the top o-ring of the lower set of three. Is this normally how they fail? I was expecting fully intact o-rings that were brittle from 1million miles with some pitting that was allowing a little coolant through but these had like half of the o-ring gone.
KB3MMX Thanks this. -
I got my new CAT piston packs and bearings on order. Can't wait to put this thing back together.
Hopefully I can find a higher hp camshaft. -
Interested in those injectors!!!!
-
Mr.Haney ,is it possable cat has a cam for 1200 hp? And just how much is a marine cam? Thanks for your time!
-
I believe the C18 1000Hp marine cam is pt# 201-2677.
Mr. Haney will be along and verify or correct this...
-
That is the correct part number for the C-18 1000 Hp engines.
CAT has come out with a C-18 in the last few years that is a 1150 hp engine. I've never tried this cam as I was worried about the timing on the valves and injector lobe, I believe these are Tier III emission engines with a much higher emission standard.
