3406E Cat no oil pressure

    Anyone have any ideas as to why a 3406E Cat would have no oil pressure? By no oil pressure I mean absolutely no oil pressure at all. Motor was sitting for about a year after truck was layer over on its side. Put motor in diff truck and did a bearing roll on it. Had no oil pressure, installed new oil pump and still not pumping oil. Thanks

    Sounds like theoil sending unit on the motor? Wire may be off or the unit has gone bad.

    Always double check oil pressure problems with a mechanical gauge tapped into an oil galley.

    Is it giving a code but running or start and shut down? Did you pack the new pump with luberplate? maybe forgot an "O" ring on the suction tube. As noted install a manual guage. I used to use the air compressor oil peresure hose, with an adapter tee, extra hose and a guage. it is an easy place to get to and far enough on the oil galley to be sure the oil is getting completly thru the system.
    Just a thought!

    did you put lucas in the oil? if that crap went if first the oil pump wont pick it up.
