The ones I have seen with enough fuel in the oil are growing oil but that is a good point if it is already using oil.

Is it best to due an oil sample now or wait still next oil change to grab one? -
Oil filter brands, who makes Cat filters, are they the same, what media is in them is a whole different subject. Search block, top right.
I am just sharing experience and saying filters are cheep. Throw one on it. Take an oil sample.
Will not go wrong with Cat filters but I was not looking to repeat what has already been said.
I would run the engine enough the oil is all mixed up but not hot. Ease the plug loose and let a little drain out slow. Then fill your sample bottle the same slow way. Top the oil off and see what comes back on your sample.High Stepper, AModelCat, Oxbow and 1 other person Thank this. -
so you've got 17,000 some odd miles on this oil change correct? first thing I would do is change oil and filter and see what happens. what is your normal service interval?
Jordonh, BoxCarKidd and Oxbow Thank this. -
Oxbow Thanks this.

@BoxCarKidd Is taking your oil sample to CAT or black stone lab a recommended manufacturer? Not seeing much from search bar results

Pull the sensor and check for debris, had a 3126 cat long block, fresh install and 0 oil pressure. After many hours of troubleshooting I found debris in the fitting for the oil pressure gauge. Just a simple check.
