34hr Restart - What can you do?

    When you are on a 34 hour resart, can you bobtail around to do personal things or does the truck have to stay parked?

    That depends on your company.......with some companies you can do that...but if you plan on dropping your trailer you better make sure you have a kingpin lock

    That's a grey area. It can be argued that you can bt and not be on duty, but do you want to explain it to a Cop if you get stopped?

    sure if your not under a load and just bobtailing and your logbook says your on line 1, I do it all the time....No problamo!:biggrin_2559: Although when I do it, it's within the city limits of where ever I am...

    Its right there in the Green Book (personal Convance(sp?) )

    Lot's of gray in trucking. Company driver needs permission, and I don't know if verbal is good enough now, it used to be.

    I never went far and I now stay with the rig.

    oh and don't forget to check with the truck stop to make sure you CAN drop the trailer...some frown on that

    Green book is the small version of part of the FMCSR. It's available at many truck stops if there isn't a copy in the truck, it's updated monthly and marketed by J.J Keller company.
