I was a P&D driver for just over 10 years at a large package delivery company. I loved my job for the most part, wintertime can be a challenge. My contractor went out of business and I'm looking to switch careers and obtain my CDL. We have a diesel driving school 10 minutes down the street. There seems to be many CDL opportunities in my area. The next CDL class starts in several weeks. Should I go for it? Thanks.

I got mine at 25, but it really don't matter what age. In PA, I came across a driver that was 70 and in his rookie year. So you're a young un lol

Make sure they are an accredited school and not a 7k joke. Job placement assistance, good reviews. What state are you in?

Wisconsin. The diesel driving school near me has been around since 1959.

You need to find out what schools are acceptable to your prospective employers. Generally speaking, if one is acceptable to a mega, (Schneider, Swift), they'll be acceptable to all. Just don't go to "Bob's Truck driving School" and think you're in. You may be not.
    It's kind of important.
Also, look to see if there are any state sponsored classes that you can do for free.
If you'll let us know (roughly) where you live, we might be able to help you more.
@Chinatown is going to be your hook up.
    Good luck

    I started at age 56.

Latest gig: hauling fuel (hazmat tanker).

The REAL question here is: are you OLD ENOUGH (between the ears)? o_O

You need lots of maturity, & good judgement...to be a real winner in the big-rig world.
