Soooooo.....ummmmm, over 20 years to find out they suck?
Kind of a 'late learner' as they say. No?
37 years old, too late in life to get Class A CDL?

Also, KLLM has a school in Burns Harbor, Indi.titsafun Thanks this. -
I only heard about that company in, I believe, with zero written corroboration, early 2019.
If I've said '18, then it was then.
Where does the "20 years to find out they suck" come from??
It took 3.1 days. 1 hour on the 4th day.
90 days has been the standard "adjustment period" at all employers since I began working in the mid '70's.
I've been at places where I stayed for a month and nothing improved.
I've gave the pointless "2 week notice" ONCE at one place and 1 day into the second week they said adios. I never again, anywhere, gave a "2 week notice".
I've never found anything that took 20 years to discover it sucked, so I no copy from where you assembled such sentence.
I HOPE, for YOU, Your Employment at Lazer Spot is Fruitful, Enjoyable and Lasts Long Time.
ADIEU!! -
Simple misunderstanding.
And I quit 3 days ago.
Nothing at all to do with LS, I just personally couldn't physically do the job. My back is jacked up and between slamming into trailers and steel dock plates, I could hardly walk at the end of the day.
But, I have nothing bad to say about them.titsafun, homeskillet and Val_Caldera Thank this. -
Switching Trailers ain't for every one.
I copy the "Bad Back".
Why were you handling/working with Steel Dock Plates??
Why were you "slamming into Trailers"??
At a HARRIS-TEETER yard I used to run a switch truck but rarely "slammed into trailers" except for Containers.
Get under the trailer, raise a bit then back and lock fifth. No "slam" needed.
I NEVER, anywhere, messed with Steel Dock Plates.
Those are for forklifts or those muscle bound folk.
My "bad back" stems from sloppy sitting when young as well lifting some things with out help.
It hurts now as I write this post.
THANKS OPUS!!titsafun Thanks this. -
As for the trailers, they were heavy. And if they were dropped a little too low, you really had to get after them and you'd hit so hard it would scatter everything in the truck.
My problem is scoliosis. I'm good to sit for hours at a time, but walking is a challenge. I'm good to walk to the car and back, but getting into and out of a yard truck multiple times a day is a problem.titsafun and homeskillet Thank this. -
Too old? No.
My favorite coffee cup is older than you.
As long as you can pass the physical, you're good to go.
The DOT examiner is not your friend, confidant, or partner in health care. They are trying to medically disqualify you.
If you are reasonably healthy you should pass.....AS LONG AS YOU ANSWER ONLY what is asked!
Same with the applications.....Answer only what is asked.
Example: Let's say you had a speeding ticket five years ago.
If the application asks "Have you been convicted of ANY moving violations in the past three years?"
The answer to that question is "NO".
NOT "No, but I had one five years ago"......
Don't snitch on yourself, pay attention in training, relax and enjoy the process.
You get back what you put into it.
Good luck!Deadhead-er, lual and Opus Thank this. -
I was also 46 when I started...you're fine. As somebody said, make sure your medical affairs are in order before you go to get a DOT physical.
Also, NO WEED. Doesn't matter if it's legal in your state for medical or recreational or whatever. Whiz quiz is guaranteed to happen and the last thing you want is to line up a solid job to start your journey and then pop.lual Thanks this. -
100% agree, life started after 45 and keeps getting better!!

Weed + CDL "big rigs" = chronic unemployment
titsafun and dave01282000 Thank this.
