battery gauge and speed odometer, and battery gauge were not working.saw a post from a few years ago about checking the accessory relay behind the dash and jumping it.as soon as I jumped it everything started working so I assume the relay is bad.my question is will jumping that relay cause any problems until I can get a new one and what gauge wire should I use

Get the part. Pretty sure your talking about the big circuit breaker. Dont leave it jumped. Risk of electrical fire if theres a short inside the cab.

If its a breaker, never jump them out. At a minimum I'd use a fused jumper (fuse equal to the breaker rating) and only for diagnostic purposes. If any of the power wires off that breaker ground out when its jumped out, it will burn.
