I have my second 379 with a severe dash rattle in the area of the glove box when the motor is under load. I had the dash apart at least 10 times on my last one and tried all kinds of things to locate and stop the noise. It's not the glove box latch either. Since this is my second one with the same problem I imagine that someone has a fix for it?

If it has more than 5-600,000 mi. on it its ready for cab bushings. you will be amazed at the differance it will make. I can't promise you it will fix your problem because mine was more of a squeek or groan. If the cab bushings don't fix your rattle check the rubber blocks that the hood rests on,only put silicone lube on them petroleum lube will cause them to swell and compond the problem when they dry out. Also if the hood hinge or hood bushings are worn bad enough or gone all together, they will let the hood bang on the cowl, but if its as bad as you say you should see some marks on the cowl where it was rubbing/banging

Same deal on my Pete 379, silicone base lube last the longest, right before each service mine starts sqeeking drives me nutts, lube the hood mounts and the lower rolls and presto!!!, Hope this helps

Thanks for the replies! I am aware of the squeak that comes from the hood rests. My fix for that has been Lucas fifth wheel lube. Next time I replace them I'll use the silicone lube. This rattle is in the area of the glove box and comes under engine load. I can see how the cab bushings might aggravate it but it isn't a sound that should be there. The cab bushings are cheap so I'll put them in. But, something is rattling in the dash by the glove box that shouldn't be rattling! I think someone once told me that the vent ducts can rattle like that...

I have mine loose for my satelite tuner box, I will look in there to see what I can find on mine. I get a vibration/rattle right behind the dash on the drivers side but it doesn't have to be under engine load, I tried pushing against the panels and dash brezels to see if it stops but it doesn't so maybe it is the vent tubes rattling, I'm gonna check mine out, because it just started doing it in the last few weeks and thats starting to aggrevate me too!!! but I'll let u know what I find out next week

I assume the answer to this was never figured out??

Don’t overlook the passenger seat. Mine was making a faint noise, sounded like a wheel bearing going bad. Took a couple days to figure out where it was coming from.

I changed out all bushings in my 379. Just have to deal with it’s little squeaks and rattles. I installed straight pipes and nice speakers. Cured all the strange cab squeaks and rattles and getbto listen to sweet sounds of pipes and loud music all day. Hell with my hearing. I’ll die a happy man haha. Just be happy you drive a beautiful 379

I rarely listen to the stereo had pipes since I owned the truck.. very good chance next year will be the last year I own a 379
