I have a 1996 379. I have lost all power to start the truck as well as have no guages. When I turn the key and push the button nothing happens, not even a click. I must have shorted something when I was fooling around behind the cluster. I was trying to test a guage and heard a pop then..... no more vroom vroom

Any advice on where to start troubleshooting would be appreciated.

Check your fuses. One of them is going to need replacement. Probably one of the really big ones.

Then see if you can jump it at it's starter motor (Make #### sure she is in nuetral first..)

Check your batteries, if any of them are hot, there is a hot active short making heat somewhere. Not good.

The rest of it becomes a medusa's head of potential issues electrically. What gauge were you checking when mr Pop showed up to kill her?

You still have pop out circuit breaker at the bottom of fuse panel this pop out goes bad on the back side (water) Remove the screws at bottom of fuse panel carefully turn panel around test for power coming in jump to other side. Pop out can be replaced

You have to remove the kick panels from steering wheel to driver side door, to see the pop out fuse most times

Thanks for the replies. We ended up running a different power wire to the ignition and have had no issues so far.
