I just bought a 87 379 w a 3406B. It has been sitting for 6 o 8 months. Started it up and it failed to build any air. Put a new air governer on it, no change. I felt like the comp wasn't putting out enough air, you can hold your finger over the output fitting for a few seconds before it blows it off so I get a new one, putting out just as much air as the original. Bypassed the air dryer and it still won't build air. Im at a lost unless I got a bad compressor. Any help??
379 not building any air.

Have you thoroughly checked the air compressor intake plumbing to be sure the compressor is getting adequate air? Critters like to make homes in trucks that are parked for extended periods.
-
Check the unloaded @ the compressor.also check the fiber covers air Line that runs from the air compressor discharge line to the air dryer or air tank spray it with soapy water while its atempting to build air obscene chased many air building problems to find the main air line leaking through the inner rubber hose

Do you hear air when the engine is running? Is it building any air or just not enough to release the brakes?
-
Check at intake to see if it is sucking well. Make sure governer is set properly

You may check to see if you plugged the right holes in the air governor. Do you hear air leaking?
