I hear ya ,I've been looking at the x15 for fuel savings , lower maintenance over other new engines, and depreciation .
Plus for me running coast to coast again , it's not an option with my carrier with my 07

Wont mind for the X15 but goin for 50k on oil, thats too long for an interval. Rather do it at 15k-20k miles. Put a bypass filtration before they start putting miles on them. Still uses the spin on filters which is easy. Not sure what their 9 million miles of testing was about.

I've heard good things. No real data, though

One thing to consider would be back end resale. 389 to 579 will be huge. The hood will be worth way more. Maybe more than $25-$30 grand after 3-5 years. I would bet at the end of the day the fuel savings and back end value will be a wash. So I would opt for the hood and have pride in my ride. But what do I know. I have a 99 379 with red head cummins that gets 5-5.5 mpg. But reliable as the day is long.

Thanks for your opinion LoJackDatHo. I still ve not come up to final decision... 389 and W9 are the best trucks in my opinion But also I forgot to mention I am planning to put team in this truck so they need room and I think 579 is gonna be better option for those guys. Anyway Ive got approved with a bank and going to test drive all three of them tomorrow morning.

Thanks everyone for your thoughts

If it's for a driver, especially team operation, I would definitely go with 579. A lot of company drivers can't handle a hood, no offense to those that can. They don't get around as easy as the 579 will. And like you said, more room.

Another one you can look at is the 567 with the setback frount axle. Wide cab and maneuvering of the 579 but has more of the hood styling of the 389.
