Being single with no kids the holidays aren't usually a big deal for me.

Hometime scheduled for the end of the month. Company tried to push me back East, not happening.
Ill sit til i get a load back home (300 miles away). Niner game to go to next week and parties set up for NYE.

We lost tonight, though, somehow... :(

You have missed 3 Christmas's with three kids under 7yrs old? What's going on brotha? It's your life and it sounds as if you "got it together" but as I'm sure you know Christmas for young children is a special, magical time with the possibility of their having special memories of this time for the rest of their lives. If you miss this one by all that's Holy try not to miss the next one would be my advice.

I wasn't doing this when my kids were the age yours are;but since Trucking I have not missed a Christmas at home in 8 years..And I'm a Long-Haul guy so I really don't understand what the problem could be. Maybe miss an occasional Christmas cause of extenuating circumstance but...Three.??

At any rate- Good Luck and I hope you & yours have a Great (although after the fact) Christmas.!!!

You are not a prisoner, your a driver/employee if they are not paying you you don't have to stay, take a taxi to the airport/bus terminal and go home. But before you pay the airfare/bus fare to go back make sure you have a job to go to. From a business standpoint I understand them not wanting to pay for 450 mi. worth of fuel(900 if you drive back). But there is no reason for you to stay if you dont want to,you just have to get yourself home and back.

It is 1 day out of the year. There is not 1 day that is worth Turning your life upside down.
It sucks no doubt but You have community of drivers that know what its like to work Christmas.We/ I have respect for everyone that is a driver and has to keep things flowing and has to put earning a paycheck before yourself.
Keep on Truckin and keep your head up.

For me I had my Christmas last week when I went home to see the family for a reunion. As long as I get to see them in the general vicinity of Christmas I'm happy. Pluss now I'm looking at a 3600 mile week plus bonuses for Christmas and New Years. :biggrin_255:
Merry Christmas and happy New Years wherever your at!

I guess I've been independant too long & maybe my advice was bad, but we're talking appx. 65 gal. of fuel to d/h home for Christmas?
    At $ 4.00 a gallon thats about $260.00
Any decent company oughta pay that and tell ya Merry Christmas!
They could always load you from there.

If not,,,then there was a suggestion that yer not in prison, and you could take a bus.

Anyway to ALL of ya,,,,Merry Christmas from me and mine!
