They will call you back in a couple of months and beg you to lease on. Personally I wouldn't sweat it. Plent of better places to be.How are you doing Gerkins?

Ok let me rephrase this..... I am a local driver in the northeast, I do Long Island, NYC and jersey about 65% of the time. I also do upstate ny, Vermont, New Hampshire, PA, Mass, Maine,Maryland, Delaware and CT. There are mountains here too. adirondacks, berkshires, the appleachian mountains and Trust me I had my share of 6-11% grades miles long, also in snow and ice conditions. Anyone that lives up here knows how it is to drive here and honestly it's rated the worst place for traffic and ashhole drivers. You have NYC, Boston, new haven and Bridgeport, Philly, and Washington, D.C., Pretty much the whole I95 corridor north of D.C. So I have the experience it takes to drive with landstar. And also I have flat bed experience as well.

Did you tell them that you have recent experience from Maine, all the way down to D.C., or just NYC and Jersey areas? NYC area is pretty small, Maine to D.C. area is not.

I personally know more than one that got turned down then got a call back months later. When you have turnover as high as Landstar you do what you can to keep the truck count up.

That is funny, as LS has one of the lowest turnover rates in the industry. They still only accept only 3% of those that apply.

Doesn't operating in 5 or more states count as OTR experience for most companies?

I didnt say anything about how many they accept. I am talking about how many leave and have to be replaced Gerkins. The orientation classes are packed out . Read Landstar's magazine. If nobody left why are so many celebrating their one year anniversary ? According to you nobody leaves but the truck count stays at 8000. There would not be any new hires if that were true.Get your facts straight Gerkins before you try to pump the people up.

I do think its bs with some mountain training it should be fine I dont doubt for one minute you can drive and manuever. Call it a refresher course or whatever but to tell a driver whos been at it for 3 yrs locally he just doesnt have the experience is bs. Yea living in a truck takes some getting used to but if you want to do it then there shouldn't be dumb rules like this. Things change and we adapt. Hope you find what your looking for.

i spent about 8 years doing hazmat and newhire training where I work we run daycabs and 42' trailers amazed me at the drivers I would road test that bragged boy this is a tiny truck and trailer I can put this anywhere but when test started we would get to an alley and I would say turn here they would just look at me and say we cant go in there with a truck..hmm not as good as they claimed..they could run a big duble bunk and a 53 on the highway and in industrial parks but when it came to a daycab and 42 getting into hospitals ,nursing homes and alleys it was a little different deal...I usually cover 7 states in a daycab stay out either 5 or 11 days...have been as far as Enid OK to Bangor MN in a daycab with 1 seat and a 90 gallon fuel tank..been with this company doing this 14 years ..in my eyes Im an otr driver even though Im in a daycab..If I were you I wouldnt sweat it
FYI the worst run I was ever on was 2 loads a day from sparta nj to the queens IMHO if you ran local in NJ ,NYC...you can do anything, cause I found that to be the worst gig I was ever on..
