That is the norm, for the size of orientation classes, at any of the centers. 7 orientation centers, two classes per week, even with 5 per class, that is only 70 people per week and all of those may not be BCOs, but some may be hired drivers for small fleet owners.

Hey I apologize man, I totally read your post wrong. I've been awake since 1am and worked 31 hrs these last two days, and 26 Monday and Tuesday and still have tomorrow to work so I am a little out of it at this moment lol.

Looking at the percentage alone, shows your inexperience. BTW, it is 65% for the tractor, only, plus, plus, plus.

But I do drive more than just the tri-state area, i do like i said 3 out of 5 days go to ny AND jersey.but I have driven on steep grades in both snow and ice. Where I work goes by seniority and senior guys do not go north during snow storms so that leaves us junior guys to do it. I'm sure they don't compare to out west, and anyway I don't plan on driving out that far anyway. Just the middle of the country over to east and that's it. I know good shipping lanes out here.

Seriously man!! I'm inexperienced because I said they pay 65% which they do unless you have your own trailer or lease a flat bed from them for 155 a week. I said 65% because I do not have a trailer so, that is what I would be paid, right??? Maybe I should have been more specific, or maybe you're just quick to put people down either way don't try to belittle me. i know about land star and their pay rates and requirements. The most they pay is 72-75% of 98% depending on trailer type and if I'm wrong then you can call landstar and tell them they are giving out false information because that's what they said to me and is written on their site. Actually the recruiter said flat bed is 72% of 98%, but the site says 72-75 depending on trailer type.

Jeez now I remember why I don't like to post here. It's because people are way too quick to judge you and don't even know you.

DAN, no problem I understand the long hours. Thats what i said never across the Missisippi river! HA! till they started waiving those franklins infront of my face. My first time out there I almost parked the truck and waited for spring.
Autocar, yea my orientaion was 5 people 2 of which were fleetdrivers and i was the only platform in the class. they keep the classes small for a reason though, more of a one to one thing. Getting to orientation now thats another thing with LS, they make it as hard as hell, picky about paperwork records, inspections, ect ect.... They do this i do believe on purpose to see if you really want it. They want long term Operators. When i went to BCO days I saw trucks there with 4 & 5 digit numbers cant tell you how many 10 plus year drivers were there. I know atleast 15 that have been here 20 plus years. Besides that you tell me what company throws a party like that ever year, not to mention the give aways, cruises ectect... There going to have to drag me out kicking and screaming! LOL Im happy

The inexperience shown is assuming one would make less, with 65% than with another outfit paying 75 or even 80 percent. It isn't the percentage that counts. It is the rates the percentage is based on.

Yea, we tend to stick around. I have evn met a few Ranger drivers that started with the original Ryder Ranger, back in the 70s and still have Teamster terms in their contracts. My domicile Agent signed on 1/2/73.

WE need that grouchy, crusty 8891 here hes been around for a while. Yea it surprises me how many longterm OO are here.
I run heavy haul and my percentage is higher than vans, but like autocar said. would you rather make 65=75% of 3 plus dollars a mile or 80% of 1.50, due the math. Our rates are generally higher per mile, plus the working enviroment I think is a lot better than most places. You run the truck not the company
