We have been in the hauling and transporting for several years and have had numerous different trucks from wreckers, to rollback and at one time even had a 5 car tracker trailer hauler.
currently I am looking to buy a 2014 4 car Kauffman EZ trailer. I am not finding much for reviews other than some tire complaints. I was wondering if anyone uses this trailer and if you could give me some insight on whether or not it is something I should proceed to purchase. thankyou

My brother had one , steer clear! Factory brakes did not last 30 days . The brake package was no where near heavy enough ! We switched two of the axles out to 8k axles . Went from 2 by 12 brake shoes to 3 1/2 by 12 brake shoes . That fixed the brake issue , but cost 2500 to do. Bent both of the new axles. The springs were letting the frame bottom out on the frame. They are to build your trailer once you put a deposit down. Only buy if they are going to put the 8k axles and springs under yours , and demand brand name tires! That should fix the issues we found . The tires they slapped on lasted about 2 months before all six blew. TA has them for about 675 apiece on the road. Almost double what that size in a good brand name can be had for locally ! (Get them off before you need one on the road)!
PS the pivot pins in the equalizers did not had the grease port machined into them! If they build it to those specs you should be fine . But take a grease gun and check each grease fitting takes grease ! 45 days in we had to replace 2 equalizers and all four pins! Best of luck!

    Sifu Thanks this.

I had a kaufman wedge before. Not a bad trailer in my opinion.

Looks like the wedge model , is better quality . We talked till we were blue in the face with the owner. He insists their design is "just fine" . Ours just was not up to the task .

I love my ez loader. Sure are a lot of kaufmans on the roads. they must not be that bad. Also everything needs maintenance. if you don't know how to pack bearings don't get in this business.

Who said any thing about bearings failing ? Only lube related issue we had was the pins the equalizers pivots on never was drilled with exit ports. So the equalizers were dry no matter how often you greased the trailer, we knew that the fittings were not taking grease, but ran till the driver could get back in on the first trip out. Pulled everything apart in house , to see what's up . None of them had an exit port. Bought 4 new ones, but had to look for 4 that that had the ports in them. Over half in the bin were like the ones we left on the owner of Kauffmans desk.

the "know how to pack bearings" statement was a metaphor or analogy implying that every piece of mechanical equipment running the highways is gonna need some type of ongoing maintenance. I see what you're saying though now about the pivots not allowing grease into the actual moving part of the equalizer. that's just half-assed work by Kaufman I guess. I still like my trailer.
