Read the thread! Hubby is retired with Parkinson's disease. Kids are grown. I pay cash for everything I own. I do save money where ever I can so I am able to camp all summer and take a hunting trip every fall. The company pays a higher CPM because the truck never stops. As I said before... 1). $1,600.00 average a week and home on weekends? I'm sure it CAN be done...but I don't believe you for a second.

2). YOU post YOUR settlement & verifiable experience---you're the one bragging....and I don't believe you for a second.

3). By the way....what is YOUR companies name? Everyone would like to bring home $1,600.00 a week every weekend. But I don't believe you for a second.

    Prove me wrong!

Its really very very very simple Jaguar. I'm retired. I retired from a very good job. I have a retirement check coming to me every month. I dont want to continue working full time. My health benefits are taken care of through my former job. I drive a truck to S-U-P-P-L-E-M-E-N-T my retirement income. I enjoy seeing the countryside. My wife doesn;'t want me hanging around the house all day. I like to fish with my granddaughter on occassion. Somebody has to cut the grass at my house and change the oil in my cars and motorcycles. Why do you care how many hours I drive or what I get paid for driving? Mind your own business.

I don't need your well -wishes. You don't own this profession.

$$$ aint everything and some of us enjoy having a life. Some of us dont want to live in a truck 3 weeks at a time only going home for 3-4 days........

Why work at McDonalds if driving is what you enjoy??

Dont down someone else because they CHOOSE to be home more, even if it means they make less

Driving for .30 doing teams as a newbie lowers the freight prices. I don't see how driving for 40+ cpm lowers the prices, except the company will be able to do it with a few less tractors, but the fuel is the same and the driver's pay is better.

I can see both sides of the coin. Everybody's situation is different, everybody's got different priorities. You can take two people with similar situations yet they will still almost always chose different paths.

I've been told more times than I can count I'm in the "perfect" trucking situation. No kids single and I'm young. I can supposedly make #### good money. Yes if I want to run all 48, be gone 3 weeks at a time and home just long enough to do laundry take a #### and then get back out on the road. Yea I could make some really good money. Thing is I've realized money isn't everything. If the bills, household expenses, and there's food on the table at the end of the month and I've got a little bit of jingle left in my pocket I'm happy. I've been told I can make better money as a company driver, and wouldn't have to worry about my own truck. Yea it ain't about the money though. I have some freedom and some control. Not only that I'm not stuck in some castrwted fleet truck with some moron that smells like the backside of a mule to get the miles I need.

Weve all got different views on how we should run and what not. Hell after 5 days I could probably use 4 straight days off but it doesn't work that way. Yes driving a truck is work but a 4/3 split would equal a week and revenue wouldn't be cut (refers to the person you quoted.) I don't know why were arguing about Mcdonalds anyway you're going to have to put in 80+ at McDonalds to make 675 a week.
