Based on my experiences with drivers from our northern neighbor it's been a neck and neck race between those from Ontario and Quebec driving like ########s around semi trucks.

"OPP Const. Roop Sandhu said it appears some of the vehicles involved were either stopped or slowing down for traffic ahead of them when the truck driven by the man now charged began a chain-reaction crash.
"It is a very horrific scene," he said.

Tabanao was arrested at the scene and held for bail court at the Ontario Court of Justice in the city of Kingston yesterday."

Problem is, they often have a tendency to take innocent bystanders with them.

I wonder if any of them had their four-ways going if they were slowing drastically or stopped in the lanes of travel.

Flip a coin, some do but most don't.

I wondered if traffic was stopped or backed up for some reason but when it wasn't reported early I ###umed that wasn't the case.

I take back my comment about everyone putting themselves in a precarious position. They were in one without choice.

I have to wonder though. When I find myself coming to the end of a line like that the 4 ways come on, I slow early and I leave a huge amount of space ahead of me until enough traffic has built up behind me and watch my mirrors.

An alert, properly positioned 4 wheeler could probably scoot up the shoulder and get out of the way if they saw this developing. Not so easy for a big truck but you could certainly sound the alarm.

There have been enough cases of people running into a line of stopped traffic that everyone should know it is a possibility and that they're a sitting duck near the end of that line.

A healthy dose of paranoia is a requirement to stay safe IMO.

Well, we all have our personal cross to bear. Or is it bare???
Anyway, I'm a better driver than I am a passenger. So we save a lot of time if I do the driving. If I have to be the passenger, it can take a bit of time to find my crash helmet, St. Chris medallion, knee pads, chest protector, hard cup, steel toe boots, safety goggles.....:D
