Just put 4 new drives all on back axle and develop bad popping noise in driveline. Did not seem to do it at highway speed mostly at city driving. Two dealerships told me it was putting my power divider in a bind. Rotated 1 new set to forward axle and noise quit. But if height of new verus old is make that big of a difference won't it be hard on my spider gears? old tire are about 9/32 verus new. Any help would be appreciated. As bad as freight is right now don't really want to buy 4 more tires to even out heights.

Many drivers have done this because high pro tires are much cheaper now-a-days. But it also does many things to the unit & this sounds like it could have happened here.

I think the only solution is another four new tires. You could mix and match, but there will be excess wear somewhere, tires or gears. Similar tires should be mounted next to each other. The average circumference on one axle should be close to the average circumference on the other axle. On each axle, the average circumference on one side should be near the average circumference on the other side.
If you do not think this is important, make notes of the circumference of each tire. There may be a 6 inch difference between the new ones and the old ones. For convenience, they talk about height and in the old days, drivers carried a big caliper to compare tires. Height difference is hardly noticeable, but circumference will get your attention.
Having said that, I think the different sizes would only cause your interaxle to run warm unless it already has problems.psanderson Thanks this. -
