Was in the ghetto in Harlem at mid night-3am. 125th street not too far from Apollo theater. My partner was completely bald looked like an Aryan brother And then 110th where the big projects are. Where crack epidemic started and where frank Lucas ran is heroin empire. Once had a dude hop up as we were making a turn and asked for 25c yes he actually asked for a quarterNortheast Hillbilly, austinmike, Dale thompson and 1 other person Thank this. -
You can get in trouble anywhere. Hauled into 63 rd and State st Chicago. Rule was you never stopped at the lites. Driver did at 51 st and State. The locals got a couple cases of beer, he chased them into the projects, did'nt come out.

I used to be leased to a carrier in omaha that did alot of work for lozier Corp., they a custom manufacturer of store fixtures and all my work was NYC, long Island and some Boston....it was everything from New stores to remodels of old neighborhood stores ...usually very tight in areas I wasn't supposed to be .
Rules were always slide the tandems all the way up and call the contractor the day before delivery.
Had a new petco store once in Astoria queens I couldn't get to cause it was surrounded by low bridges ...took it over to jersey and put it in a warehouse.
Had a new target store in upper Manhattan where I got Hasseled by security for being in front of the building threatening to call the law , I threatened to take the load back to omaha when like magic a big door opened and I was told to pull inside of a circle and stop , they spun my truck around and I backed into a dock .
It payed well but was a bit stressful at times and no job was ever the same .
I stayed with that long enuff to do some new target stores and go back years later with the remodel fixtures. .Brettj3876, Dale thompson, Speed_Drums and 1 other person Thank this. -
