Please help. My hubby is getting help with school cost but the WIA program is only working with these 4 schools. We live in the Dayton Oh area.
Napier Truck Driver Training
Southern State Community College
Tri-State Semi Driver Training
Clark State Community Truck Driver Training
Does anyone have any input on any of these schools? He really wants to make the right decission. Thank you![]()

I can't say one over the other.. but I'll say that since WIA isn't working with any others, these are the 4 to concentrate on. WIA actually has standards!
Things I'd look for - right up front:
how many students are in the cab for driving on the road time? If it's not "one", look for another school. Driving a rig is NOT something you can 'learn by observing'
Size of class - the smaller the better.
Qualification of instructors - how much time do they have on the road?
Recommendations from trucking companies - call around, see how the various companies in the area - and some of the big names, too - feel about each school.
I'm biased toward PTDI certification (or is it PDTI? I forget)
Go in and talk to them. Do they make you uneasy? or comfortable?
Just my $2 -
Thanks for your input. This really helped. We will be checking and keep you posted.

Thanks to all for your help. Hubby is starting school this Saturday! He will go to school on the weekends and working his Security job during the week. He is so excited. Can't wait to get done so he can get on with things and find that driving job! We both are looking forward to better days ahead!
