I wonder why he was in the left lane? He either knew the right lane was closed or possibly he was a left lane hog and distracted.
That alone makes me think he was possibly aware of the backup. He could of had a seizure or his master cylinder went out. It does happen. Only an investigation might reveal the truth.
I hate to see a young person die in a senseless crash.NavigatorWife and TRKRSHONEY Thank this. -
I just read the comments and some of them are really unbelievable really. One said that it was the fact that the bar under the truck wasn't there or correct and the cars airbag should have saved the guy. They want to blame truckers for all the ills.
The guy did have 2 young daughters and served in Afghanistan. No matter what it was a terrible accident that perhaps inattention led to.TRKRSHONEY, mamamullins and skibum_63 Thank this. -
poor guy probably never realized what was about to unfold. that impact shows that the driver was not even looking at the road. he hit that trailer right in the center. further proof of that is there is not a single inch of a skid mark.
NavigatorWife Thanks this. -
I did read the comments attached to the story and made comment myself. People are NOT taught about how to move in and around the big rigs.
They seem to think we are able to maneuver our 80,000 or more GVW vehicles smoothly and effectively under the duress they cause in their reckless abandon going from one hairdresser to a lunch engagement.
I ran ambulances, fire rescue, dive rescue before I ever did the big rigs. I was a Combat Corpsman ("Corpsman Up"... Obama can't pronounce it... so much for 'Harvard Law') before I ever went through the training it took to drive a 'Big Rig' and I will be the first to say, it's not something to take lightly.
I was mad to hear the stupidity of the comments that tried to point the finger at a driver who, in my humble opinion, apparently was able to effectively maintain control of his vehicle and come to a safe stop in a situation that required his immediate attention.
I was not there, I don't know (or care) if he used his four-ways... it's immaterial and insignificant to the facts.
The Neon driver was, simply, driving careless, inattentive or distracted by something to fail to stop.
Nuff Said.
If you find my opinions to be offensive or 'inappropriate'... please get over it. Truck drivers have an attitude and I am one.NavigatorWife, TRKRSHONEY and skibum_63 Thank this. -
