Find a trucking company with a Tuition Reimbursement program that will cover the cost of CDL school. About half of the companies hiring newbies offer TR. You take out a school loan for the school and when you start working you get paid for your driving plus an amount every week/month you can apply to the school loan. That's how I paid for CDL school. I was a week away from being homeless. Is there a Motlow Community College or TN College of Applied Technology campus nearby? There is a TCAT location in Shelbyville that has an inexpensive CDL program. Make sure any CDL school is at least 160 hours of instruction. DO NOT GO TO CDL SCHOOL UNTIL YOU FIND A COMPANY WILLING TO HIRE YOU.
