The labs might change policy that if the person cannot pp in 30 minutes then they take hair samples instead. I mean....it could happen.

 

Not until the laws change. Then it wouldn't be lab policy, but law.

 

Currently you have 3 hours to provide an adequate sample..
More than enough time for whatever.

My last random and DOT physical/medical took about 45 minutes on average and that was only because there was only the medical officer himself working those days and there was one other person besides me being tested. Either way,I still killed some time waiting patiently.
Sometimes it’s good to get out from behind the wheel once in a while-even for mandatory drug screens.

 

If you smoke pot everyday 3 hours isn't going to save you. Otherwise, why even do them. If they can be fooled so easily? I have heard people in 3 hours can get a clean person to give them a sample, then they hide it in their underpants. I am sure it can be done. At the Railroads you never leave the company of a supervisor/officer, you "in person" are part of the chain of custody. They called it being pulled out of service for a UA. So you would have to have one those containers on you everytime you are on duty to be relaxed. At any time the officer can tell you "we" are going to the lab Mr/Mrs Doe. Need to give us a urine sample. What, What, WHAT? Me. What did I do. That told everyone "all" they needed to know. Mr/Mrs Dough we have to tell you, gosh, I hate this part of my job, you are fired. You can contact your Union Rep, there is substance abuse programs for you, but it will be at least 1 year before you can work here again. I am so sorry, so very very sorry. But... BUT.... BUT.... NOOOOOO

 

Some of these people don’t get it. Truck driving(or almost anything transportation related) is a safety sensitive job,and as such,the drug screening is mandatory. And there are no shortcuts!

 

Fast forward 9 months... Joe, Joebob Crumbletree? Is that you?... Yes hi Train Director Andrews... Well joebob I almost didn't recognize you, with that backpack, rip van winkle beard, walking stick, and is this your dog. Gosh he looks terrible, I mean... Anyways, how did rehab work out? Well Mr Andrews I failed another UA right before getting out of Rehab. So I am totally terminated now. Oh my, well that true joebozo, 2 strikes and you are OUT at the railroad. I am sorry to hear that Joebob. Thats okay Mr Andrews, my wife left me for another railroad man that doesn't use pot. My kids call me pothead dad now. So I just got outfitted for Oregon. Really Joebob whats that about? Well for $500 you get a used tent, backpack, map to Oregon, you get 2 weeks supply of pot, the doctor wrote me a prescription for it, I am on my way there now. So me and dufflebag my doggy, well Mr Andrews we figure to live in the Great Tent City in Oregon. My goodness Joebozo, this is awful. Here since I am here now, lets see how about a $50 dollar bill Joebob? Well Mr Andrews can I first practice a line on you I learned in Tent life, your dope, and you. Its a class I take at the homeless mission. Okay you offer me the $50 again okay? Sure joe. Here you Go... Hi, you look homeless, your dog does too, would you like a $50 Bill?... Joebob slaps it out of Mr Andrews hand. Joebob then tells him, NO, I want $500, who do you think you are talking too, a BUM? My goodness Mr Andrews says, picking up his $50 bill, and as he turns to go, he tells Joebob well thank you, good luck in Oregon, and I will just take my $50 and go. See ya...... as dufflebag the dog growls then barks. Mr Andrews drives away. Never to see or hear from Joebob again.
