When I rode from Indy to Paris that salesman said there was a man in that area building those. Promised 750 HP. I read that is just a coating and not long lived. I looked for ceramic pistons, found them for some Cats but no Cummins. Looked at putting N14 pistons in a big cam but did not see how to make that work.

I know absolutely nothing about ceramic coated pistons, and very little about anything else, but it would seem to me that with the expansion/contraction of the metal during heat cycles, it would be difficult not to have flaking of the coating.

They probably didn’t heat it and use a nickel rod. I have better luck brazing them with a high silver content filler.

I have had limited Experience with ceramic coated pistions ..I've only put them in 1 motor.I wasn't around that motor long enough to base a opinion
I've read that its a over rated joke because just as you stated in your post the coating tends to crack and flake & burn off the pistion

You go turning the Wick up on that BC3 & you'll have even less Cash.. IMHO

    Run the overhead,
Find an Olskool Fuel Pump Guy who is; Still alive, not in a nursing Home, & Doesn't have Dementia. To rebuild the Fuel Pump.
Replace the Bush in the accessory Drive It's a weakness in those Old Girls. (Ask Me how I Know This)
    Then Go to Work.

You Mention A 9 speed , but What rears does It Have..??
With Heavy haul gearing is far more important then Horsepower..
Back In the Day That's All they had & a Lot of Big Loads were shifted with those Old School Trucks..

    Just My 2 cents worth..

Leyland actually produced a Truck Engine (500 series) with a combined Block & Head as one Piece ,..was a huge failure..!!
