The ones that I see running between Phoenix and LA all the time are all aluminum and tandem axle

I have a 39 ft spread. Hauling bulk is hard to keep the drives legal. With a spread you can load the tail and ride

So how much does your trailer weight and how many tons can you haul I heard spreads weigh more

379 pete 3406 275 wb. 39 ft Mate with 72 inch sides no liner. With 200 gallon of fuel I hit the scales at 33000. 23.5 is what I usually put on.

    With my 40ft x96 x78 Wilson hopper I hit em at 29200.

I prefer a spread back there. 10 foot one inch gives you 40,000 and no more tandem cat scale games within reason. You are going to be heavy.

You also will find that a airride spread when loaded gives you a very good ride. Better than most Cadillac's made.

With a proper dump valve emptying your aft axle your trailer now thinks it's only 30 feet and becomes very easy to get into tight ready mix plants etc.

    My apology.

The dump valve on the rear trailer axle, dumps the air suspension creating what is called a floater. Your front spread axle carries the entire trailer temporarily for making some extreme tight turning like for docking.

I use terms aft because I was raised near the Atlantic Ocean and that kind of talk is pretty strong habit. Sorry for confusing. Aft means stern = Rear.
