For whatever reason my boss bought a 45ft x 96w flat bed. Is there any work for a trailer of that size?

Absolutely..... Coils ride GREAT on smaller trailers
You can still load paletized goods (Salt-lawn and garden-refractories-stone)
Most Sheet steel too.....
A 45' trailer is not a bad investment.....jldilley Thanks this. -
Depends on what you do, I'd snap up a good 45' for cheap.

Ok. I wasn't sure of the flat bed gig was like vans/reefers, where you need a 53 even tho they only going to use 45 feet of it.
-
If you call in for a load it best to say its a 48 ft.
sfd714 Thanks this. -
Well we load 53' flats all day long.......with 20' of empty deck when finished. Unless your going to do the LTL thing you will have no problem with loads for a 45'.

Just need to get a few more things and put it to work. Any places yall would recommend?
-
Well sure!!
Where are you located? I can probably suggest a few customers to you.....
And how do you secure freight?? Real Easy....... -
Northwest Illinois. Trailer came 4 inch straps about every 2-3 feet . Still need to get more chains/binders, tarps and bungie cords.
-
Northern illinois huh? Be more specific.... You talkin Chicago or Rockford or dubuque or moline or Peru..
I'll hook you up with a half dozen shippers......A Blind man walking with a Cane can get Customers from that Great area as long as he has a working truck...
