I admit yes i am a 4x4 driver, i have no experience driving big rigs, ive driven a few box trucks, and hauled a few trailers with my 4x4. to the heart of the matter when i am driving around and i see a big rig next to me with the blinkers towards my lane on, is it helpful when i turn my lights on and off indicating it is safe to move over?

ps. i typically keep a good load of tools in the back of my jeep and am equipted with a cd radio, and amber light bar. dar i see a big rig on the side with the hazards on should i stop and try to do what i can to help?

As for flashing your lights thats a courtesy(unless you flash on your highbeam, dont do that) and is appreciated but most drivers,,,, well all drivers should beable to tell when they are clear of you if not they shouldnt be driving. I like it when other drivers flip on or off their lights. But that is not the deciding factor for i only move over when i feel i have the space i want. Which differs from driver to driver.

You could pull over if youd like to that would be the courtious thing to do. Most drivers(not all) usually have help on the way. Be careful though when helping somebody. There are some people that might try to sue you if you break something. Unfortunately there are some out there like that but for the most part drivers arent like that. Just be careful dont put yourself in danger as the shoulder of a freeway is a dangerous place to be. I really respect towtruck operators.

well as it stands i only pull over if i can safely move over in time, and when i do pull over i am usually more or less parked in the ditch. the hazard lights and the amber go on about 1/8 mile before im over. but thanks for the reply.

ps flashing the lights.... i reserve that for riced out cars, and minivans that cut me off... ive always been tempted to use the offroad lights but i got pulled over a few months ago because they werent covered... i guess if its more than 42" off the ground it has to be covered but i was never afford the opportunity to use them in that mannor

glad colorado (at least the part im from) doesn't have any law like that. i dont think i could drive my old ford anywhere, and I have 6 kc's on it and have had the same urge, but have stuck to using them while working or off-road. in all reality they could easily blind somebody (they dont call them daylighters for nothing), not only causing an accident, but a possible lawsuit, and a bad feeling to find out that the minivan did have children in it. I just let them go, no sense in making someone mad, it will make them do it again that much sooner. however I honestly cannot remember being cut off while driving my highboy, most people even veer off the road when i come in thier direction...

btw i think i forget to mention th PA speaker under the hood... and the fact that i live in suburbia... but yes the lights make excellent work lights, like when i was replacing a starter motor on a buddies car, turned on the overheads and the fogs and everything i needed was lit.... last time i totaled it up its over 100 amps of power draw and im looking to increase that....

yeah, its something else when the alternator can't keep up and you shut the whole thing down and try to restart... and it just doesn't have the juice! im planning on dual batteries and a bigger alternator than 70 amps on my old highboy...
