Use Google maps with satellite view! Saved my ### many times. I always like to study the area on Google maps just to give myself an idea. I'll admit us new generation truckers have it very easy with all This new technology...use it to your advantage

I'll use it to check out shipping docks mostly. However... Google maps isn't great while driving. Was going to try and find the road, but I'll be ###### if I can't find where it was...

I'm enjoying your post Vilhiem, reminds of what I went thru 20+ yrs ago. I'm impressed with you not panicking and doing something stupid when you discovered you made a wrong turn. I've done the 90 degree back in to turn around a few times sometimes at a 4 way intersection (on a quiet country road without much traffic). I've also stopped & checked the map to see which hwys might take me back to my original route.
After I've made a wrong turn I always thought I wasnt in too much trouble until people start coming out on their porch & shake their heads as I drive by:biggrin_25523:.
I'm looking forward to your next post, I enjoy your humorous writing style. Time for bed:biggrin_25518:. Stay safe.

By the way... The title may or may not allude to any of the following:
    - A song written by the beatles
    - A book written by Jules Verne
    - A well known trucking company.

This industry needs more Steve's so there's less Anthony's on the road ... A piece of advice if something goes wrong with directions or gps I just stop throw on 4ways and figure things out before I move . I find it keeps me from getting into a worse predictament ... Btw stock up on long johns if you want to be a canadian lol minus 30 today

From Villheim's (OP). His trainer "Mike" is quoted:
I really need to highlight this part of your training (the above bolded/quoted text).
IMO, your trainer Mike gave you the absolute best and most positive psychological preparation with using those exact words.
I'm very curious to know if Schneider instructs their trainers to say these words, or they were "Mike's" own choosing.

I discovered the huge benefit of this "psychology" purely by accident years ago.
The last time I used it (on myself) was during 2 portions of my CDL exam (Pre-Trip & Road Test) with state examiners 'hawking' over ya.

The day before my testing I was nervous as could be, for no good reason. Couldn't even sleep that night.
Next day, I started the morning tired/nervous, seeing 2 separate examiners, both lookin mean as old bulls, but when each examiner got in the truck with me for these 2 tests, I said to myself "Yesterday I was still training for this, but NOW you fella's are in MY truck and I'm gonna show you that *I* will perform flawlessly". I though of the examiners as merely passenger/witnesses in MY truck. The reality was... it wasn't my truck, it was an old "13-letter manure spreader" International training truck.

When I said this to myself (in my head, not spoken), my nervousness honestly went to absolute zero, and my confidence level was higher than I could have ever imagined. I ended up performing both the pre-trip rundown, air systems check, and the road test absolutely flawlessly, honest to God.

What Mike's words did was transmit this same positive psychological effect, to ease your nervousness and boost your confidence, whether he knew it or not.
Tell me, did those words have the same positive effect on you, as they had on me?
I'm curious to know. The funny part is I said them too, but to myself. ;)

That was a good read & I LMAO at the way you viewed things! Sounds like you are doing great and have common sense about you and we all know that will help go along way. Good luck & stay safe!

Month two is up, I am a little tired and the second month was a blur... So I'm sorry if it gets a little scattered. I did try.

Let me know what you all think and if you have any improvements or words of wisdom.

KW Cajun, I don't recall feeling that way. The way it made me feel was to instill an absolute sense of responsibility and respect. However, it would be wrong of me to say that it didn't give me a tiny boost of confidence. ...though his trust and the fact that he seemed to feel at ease with me at the wheel was perhaps the most encouraging thing.
