Man, what a grind. School was a blast, we made many great friends. The only problem was dps/dmv is so backed up in the DFW area that we had to stick around school for 2 1/2 weeks longer than planned. In the end it paid off and my wife and I passed our test and now have our CDL along with 7 weeks of training under our belts.
We decided to go with Schneider because of their focus on safety and that we only have to train with a TE for a week. We start Tuesday and can't wait to start absorbing all the new information.

Congratulations! Keep us posted on how you're doing. If you guys have questions, feel free to PM me. We can't help you with Schneider specific stuff - we've never worked for them, but just about anything else that comes to mind, give us a holler.

Double check your trip planning and equipment. Get as much sleep as you can. Be safe. And go make that money, driver.

One perk to Schneider as a team is that your truck can run 65mph... My advice? Start dropping apps once you hit the 6 month mark with local ltl carriers. Saia, Southeastern, and Saia are always looking for teams around here. Like @Chinatown mentioned earlier, with LTL outfits you can make phenomenal money as a team.(Literally 75-110k per person per year). Schneider will also reimburse you both for Hazmat if you want to add the endorsement now that you are in orientation.
As a Schneider team you'll mostly do drop and hooks, they try to relay live loads/unloads to the regional drivers.

    Nortex Thanks this.

Good; plenty of options and big paychecks for husband/wife teams.
At 12 mos. look at Estes Express.
At 6 mos. look at Old Dominion.
Quest Global - 3 mos. experience.

Is Schneider giving you tuition reimbursement? They usually pay up to $6000.00 tuition reimbursement.

    Nortex Thanks this.

Yes, tuition reimbursement but at only $200 month each. Probaby won't be here long enough to get full reimbursement. Also getting 5k sign on bonus over the course of the first year. After two days I can tell y'all that Schneider training at West Memphis is top notch, I mean I can't imagine it being any better.

Also, we got to drive a rig with an automatic/automated transmission today...what a revelation! Absolutely amazing piece of technology.

I drove a Volvo pulling hazmat tankers running 48 states. The truck had automatic transmission and it was truly the best driving experience I've ever had. Wasn't nearly as fatigued at the end of each driving day.

    newshoes and Nortex Thank this.
