Chances are they're including a ton of systems checks and diagnostics that will show everything is working well.
If it's not working well, you'll spend some bucks to fix it. -
Doesn't sound out of normal price. Just pray they do it right.

Seems a little high. I believe a friend of mine with a VNL780 paid about $400 to have his done. I can get it done on mine for 3 hours labor, tax and everything - about $365. Not sure how much room there is once you raise the hood up on a volvo and "how much fun" it is to simply get the valve covers off, possibly a little more labor than on my truck.

Had the overhead done at Volvo denver. By the TA.
$350. also had them do a PM and replace the carrier bearing I found had to much 'play' during my DOT annual inspection.
As for the OH, i can't tell anydifference yet. I was hoping for better pulling power, mpg improvement-
Thisrun should be a good test- We were dh out to LA from denver...and now headed east to indiana.
7.5mpg on the way out--over the CO-UT I70 route.
loaded with 28k. will avg 65-68 on cruise. hoping for 6.8mpg
When I arrived in Cali, I stopped for a wash at the beacon , because the engine looked covered in Oil. found a head cover bolt was loose. No major loss of oil, just look splattered everywhere.
Now, for the carrier bearing.... i, like others on the volvo forum, have this peculiar noise,vibration- that occurs at highway speeds when going downhill , power off- others have thought it's the airbag leveler...otheres the angle of the shaft - others the carrier bearing.
well, with the carrier bearing replaced- my issues continues. I had a bag replaced and the level rod replaced about 4 months ago. at that time(volvo Boise) no mention was made about a faulty level valve. so , i'm kinda stumped, still. -
i have a driver that complains of this same vibration.. let me know if you find out what it is. i think his ride height is a little high myself, i'm going to adjust it down tomorrow and ask him again in a couple of weeks if he still notices it... if i'm not mistaken ride height is supposed to be 2.75" ?

Will do. I'm most likely taking it into Volvo Columbus in the morning. I've got the 'check engine fault' warning's poping up-
with codes mid sid fmi
128 146 13
low oil warning-
and this right after the PM, overhead service. killin me
so, i'll ask about the ride height when i'm gettin this looked at. -
Thanks to Pablo UA for the Volvo code sheet!
however ...the codes I posted last night....
indicate EGR, but I don't see fmi 13
PS: how many times can I clear out the fault code on the lcd and what happens in the interim....Does the fault fix itself..."wishing on a star"Last edited: Oct 15, 2011

I have same noise and vibration that you discribe, the dearler by me narrow it to the power divider on the rear end. At first I thought it was the I-shift trans going. They did put in an new air leveling system, because it had to much play in it. Volvo put an up dated part for the air leveling system. Four hoses down to two.
After the part install 85% of noise and vibration is gone.
I was going to put some motorkote in the rear end to see if that would help.
