hey guys
what the hell,
i got 500$ ticket because i simply bypassed a weigh station
it was a tanker trailer with flammable placard, happened just entering louisiana from missisippi
that morning around 7am, i admit i was daydreaming a little and on that particular station there was no prepass to buzz me, and actually there was no sign that it was open
i m new in the trucking industry, i understand to have a penalty but for god sake 500$, that is my almost week pay
my wife she got caught overspeeding, phone etc.. such unsafe violations and i dont remember she had 500$
what a hell is going on, it is not reasonable for a mere company driver to be punished that way
the cop who chased me, he was only interested to write me the violation and nothing else, he checked my paperwork but he didnt want me to go back to the scale
that day, 2-3 hours later in louisiana i went through another scale on i-10 and my weight was good
i'm planning to fight that ticket, maybe pay less or find a payment arrangement
seriously, im a good guy, i have never had any ticket before that, that s slavery, 500$ just for that
500$ ticket, it is NOT reasonable

Hire a lawyer. Pretty much any ticket you get with a CDL is gonna cost you several benjamins at the least.

Costly mistake. Learn from it, move on. What are you going to fight? You're guilty. By your own admission you were "day dreaming". Pay attention, every second counts.

"Respect my authority!" - Eric Cartman
Welcome to the world of.professional driving. Fines in a CMV are more expensive than POVs. By blowing by the weigh station you indicated to the officer that you had little to no respect for your profession or his authority. Not saying that's your mindset but that's what it appears to those assessing fines.
Go to court - or better yet have your CDL prepaid lawyer go for you - get it reduced and roll on. Hopefully a little wiser. -
I did the same thing in Oklahoma. I luckily got a really nice officer and i was kissing his ### out the wazoo so he ended up doing a level 2, i passed and he sent me on my way.
Find a good attorney in the area and see what he can do for you. -
If you were making a livable wage that $500 wouldn't hurt as bad..... Your employer is the real slave master ..........

You were daydreaming pulling the wrong wagon, sucks but you need to be aware while you're driving, especially with placards. A good GPS will let you know a scale is coming up, if you are not sure if it's open or not go through anyway.
