    Hi all,

I need some serious advice. In brief, I'm losing my home and want to start fresh somewhere else so I'm looking at trucking. I have no attachments here. I'm in NE Arkansas but would really like to leave the area and preferably- the state. But I'm a 57 M with no experience other than owning a video/video game store for 30 years and four years experience doing ultrasonic testing in nuke plants (nukes are slow atm). I really think driving a truck might be for me. With no attachments, I wouldn't mind essentially living out of the truck. I realize that's a lonely existence but I'm kind of a loner anyway and am happy with my hard drives of movies, and old-school emulator games. Basically, would like to start a new life and career with room for advancement, anywhere but here. I really really mean that last part- I'll move anywhere, no problem.

I'm looking into companies that provide paid training because I have very little money. Been reading Reddit and other forums for a few days and am seeing mixed reviews on doing it that way so any advice is appeciated.

The big question is- who to try and work for? I see good and bad posts about companies but that's true with eveything, I suppose. Prefer physically less demanding jobs even if somewhat less pay since my living expenses should be pretty low. I'm a hard worker and in good shape but getting older and don't want to push it.

I guess, to cut it short- someone please help me chart a course through all this static. Tell me what you would do if you were in my situation, what not to do, tips and tricks- anything would be very much appreciated!

Can you pass a drug test; urine & hair follicle?
If so, you're good to go.

What you need is a good OTR company. Might have to keep your Arkansas address for now, until you finish cdl training. Afterwards, when you're on the road trucking, then look for a new state & new address.
You can use a mail forwarding service until you find a permanent domicile address.
Choose a state with no state income taxes, such as Nevada, South Dakota, Texas.

Hi and thanks! Yes i am drug-free. Had a DUI about 20 years ago. Thank you very much for recommendation for KLLM and the info on the no-income tax states, as well! This is exactly what I'm looking for- a ray of hope in the dark.

I'd put KLLM at the top of the list.
I'll give you some other names to use if KLLM doesn't work out.
I'm from Tennessee, but moved to Nevada and love it here. Summertime year round and have never seen a mosquito because the humidity is so low.
